About this Course

You must possess the proper full class of license that covers the weight of the special-type vehicle you wish to drive in addition to the required special-type vehicle endorsement.

You may operate the following vehicles with a Rollers, Tracks, or Wheels Endorsement on your driver’s license.

NZ Class 1 Full Licence with appropriate endorsement allows you to drive:

Gross Laden: Rollers No more than 18,000 kg in weight.

Tracks: Maximum Gross Laden Weight: 18,000 Kg.

Day 2 (In-classroom Theory)
Wheels: Maximum Gross Laden Weight of 4500 kilograms, or 18,000 kilograms when traveling at a speed of no more than 30 kilograms per hour.

You may drive if you have a NZ Class 2 Full License with the necessary endorsement:

Rollers with a Gross Laden Weight of Over 18,000 Kg.

Tracks with a Gross Laden Weight of Over 18,000 Kg.

If driven at a speed of no more than 30 km/h, the wheels’ gross loaded weight cannot exceed 18,000 kg.

You may drive if you have a NZ Class 4 Full License with the necessary endorsement:

If driven at a speed more than 30 km/h, the Gross Laden Weight of the wheels exceeds 18,000 kg.

RTW Endorsements:

Rollers: Vehicles that run on rollers are eligible for the “R” Endorsement.

Tracks: Vehicles that run on self-laying tracks are eligible for the “T” Endorsement.

Wheels: Vehicles that have wheels but aren’t forklifts, passenger cars, tractors, fire trucks, trade vehicles, or vehicle recovery service vehicles are eligible for the “W” Endorsement.

Course Prerequisites

You must hold a minimum of NZ Class 1 Full Licence in order to do this course.

Course Outline

This course covers the following:

A theory training component for the endorsement(s) in question.

all necessary reference materials.

Practical instruction and evaluation for a chosen endorsement.

It takes around 4 hours.

All required machinery is provided or we can use yours.

You must wear safety boots on this course.
